Periel Aschenbrand is a writer, comic, podcast host and producer.
She is the author of two critically acclaimed comedic memoirs, The Only Bush I Trust is My Own (Penguin, US & Random House, UK) and On My Knees (Harper Collins, US & Penguin, Australia).
She is the on-air producer for LIVE FROM THE TABLE, the podcast for the world-famous Comedy Cellar.
She co-created, co-hosted and produced over 150 episodes of AND HERE’S MODI with the comedian, Modi.
Her work has been featured in countless publications including The New York Times, The New Yorker, Style.com, Refinery29, Paper magazine, The Washington Post, The New York Post, Interview Magazine, The Observer, The Howard Stern Wrap-Up Show and numerous others.
During COVID she hosted and produced a weekly comedy show on Zoom with comedians Jessica Kirson and Rachel Feinstein called ‘We Are Not Okay,’ which featured comics such as: Amy Schumer, Fortune Feimster, Yamaneika Saunders, Sal Vulcano and Nikki Glaser.
Her weekly column for TABLET Magazine, The Chosen Ones, featured interviews with Natasha Lyonne, Fran Drescher, Mark Seliger, Rachel Weisz and numerous other cultural figures.
She has created several comedy shows including HYSTE-RICAL at West Side Comedy Club and JUST THE TIP with Iris Bahr (Curb Your Enthusiasm) which features comedians from HBO, Netflix, Hulu and more.

She is Jewish.
She grew up in Queens.
Her husband was supposed to be a one-night-stand.
Philip Roth once fed her Russian cherries in syrup from a spoon at Samovar and then never called her back. (You can read about in ON MY KNEES).
She is doesn’t like cats.
She usually sneezes at least 8 times in a row.
